The London Super Comic Convention is a comic book convention held in the U.K.

Background

The London Super Comic Convention is a new convention, with its inaugural event scheduled for February 2012. The convention is described as a “comics only event”, with the focus on U.S and European creators, exhibitors, publishers and dealers.

The event is organised by a team of U.K and U.S comic book professionals and fans with experience in hosting creator-driven shows dating back to the 1990s, as well as individuals from the business and finance sectors.

The aim of the organisers is to establish a British convention on a large scale to rival U.S events such as the San Diego Comic-Con.

The convention is set to feature the largest number of U.S comic dealers to attend a U.K show, along with an unprecedented number of U.S creators. It will also include a wide range of over 100 small press independent comic publishers and creators, along with many of the of the U.K.'s top comic retailers, publishers and mail order dealers.

The London Super Comic Convention is set to take place from Saturday February 25 – Sunday February 26 at the Excel Centre in London.

Opening times are as follows:

  • Saturday, Feb 25th, 2012 (10:00 - 18:00)
  • Sunday, Feb 26th, 2012 (10:00 - 17:00)

Admission price:

 
  • 1-day pass - £15 - 2-day pass - £25

Admission for children under 11 is free if accompanied by a paying adult.

Featured creators

Stan Lee

The organisers of the show announced in January 2012 that the event would featuring a headline appearance by Stan Lee, legendary creator of the Marvel Universe and characters including Spiderman,, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Daredevil and Doctor Strange.

Attendees booking tickets online are offered the chance to win a private audience with Stan Lee, with the competition winner being announced on February 14th.

U.S and European creators

The convention will also feature a wide range of well-known comic book creators spanning Silver Age to present day, from Marvel and D.C Comics to independent titles and artists from the U.S and Europe.

In addition to appearing on discussion panels, these writers and artists will be part of a daily signing schedule across the weekend.

Featured exhibitors

The convention will host the U.K’s largest number of U.S comic book exhibitors including well-known publishers and dealers.

The renowned international publisher IDW will make its first-ever appearance at a U.K event, with the company’s Chief Creative Officer & Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall viewing attendees portfolios along with participating in discussion panels. In addition, IDW will be producing an exclusive Transformers comic book cover for the event.

The world’s largest collectibles auction house Heritage Auctions will also be in attendance, with the company’s Comics & Comic Art Managing Director Lon Allen accepting consignments for upcoming auctions.
