Indian Convention States Faridkot 1887-98 6a olive-bistre Official, error 'SERVIC', SGO10b.

A fine mint example with part original gum and wonderfully fresh of colour.

A fine quality example and a great Government Official rarity, being one of just three recorded in private hands (with another in the Royal Philatelic Collection).

Provenance: ex philatelist and author on Indian States stamps, C.T. Sturton.

Accompanied with a Royal Philatelic Society (RPS) Certificate of Authenticity (1970).

Six states had a postal convention agreement with "British India" to use the regular issues of British India overprinted for use in their states. These "Convention" states are Chamba, Faridkot, Gwalior, Jind, Nabha, and Patiala.
