Nyasaland 1938-44 10s bluish green and brown-red/pale green, the distinctive shade from the second printing on 'ordinary' paper, SG142a.

An unmounted mint example with full original gum. Despite a small corner bend, it is much finer and fresher than usually found, particularly having never been hinged.

A very scarce King George VI stamp in this distinctive colour shade.

In 1908, the Protectorate was renamed ‘Nyasaland’, and in 1953 it joined the postal territory of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. Stamps were issued from Nyasaland again In 1963 when it became an autonomous area, followed by Independence (as ‘Malaŵi’) on 6 July 1964.

The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £425.
