British East Africa 1890-95 2½a black/yellow-buff error, from 1891 first printing on thin paper, horizontal pair, ERROR IMPERFORATE BETWEEN (and at foot), SG7a.

A fine mint example with original gum.

The stamp features the Sun and Symbol of "Light and Purity".

A great British Commonwealth rarity, one of just three pairs recorded.

Accompanied with a British Philatelic Association (BPA) certificate of authenticity (2006).

British East Africa included essentially all the territory in East Africa under British control. The area only issued stamps from 1890 to 1895. From 1895 Indian stamps were overprinted or surcharged. This was then replaced by the British East Africa Protectorate stamps from 1896 to 1898.
