North Borneo Labuan 1879 16c blue, watermark CA over crown sideways, overprint 'SPECIMEN' (type D8), position 9 on the sheet, SG4.
A very fresh and fine mint example with traces of gum. Some trimmed perforations, but remains very attractive.
The first stamp issue from Labuan with a striking engraved design of Queen Victoria and with inscriptions in three languages (English, Arabic and Chinese).
A rare specimen example, which was used solely by postal administrations as reference to help detect any attempted forgeries.
