North Borneo Japanese Occupation 1943 (29 Apr) 4c red, type 2, BLOCK OF THIRTY-TWO (10x3, with an extra pair at upper right), tied to large piece by eleven good to fine strikes of SIBU (Sarawak) type JD3 circular date stamps in violet, dated "9 8 2603" (= 9 Aug 1943), SGJ18.
A very fine quality piece, with only one stamp at the top right showing any defect and a few minor creases, as to be expected.
A spectacular and rare philatelic item, scarcer used than unused.

Japanese forces first landed in North Borneo on 15 December 1941. By 19 January 1942, the whole of North Borneo had been occupied. Brunei, North Borneo, Sarawak and, after a short period, Labuan, were administered as a single territory by the Japanese.
