Great Britain 1840 2d blue, multiple use on cover, SG 5
Great Britain 1840 2d blue, multiple use on cover, SG 5.
A stunning quality and unique letter from London to Pau in France dated November 24th 1841. It is the only known example of the ten pence rate up to half an ounce fully prepaid. The cover includes a 2d blue pair FH-FI and a strip of three GG-GI, tied by black Maltese Crosses. The cover was sent via Calais and Paris, unusually showing oval framed “PF” (Paid to Frontier) rather than the more usual “PD” (Paid to Destination).
An incredible stunning quality unique piece of early British philately.
Accompanied with a clean certificate of authenticity from the Royal Philatelic Society (RPS).
