  • An excellent single page letter with military content, signed by Napoleon in Paris on February 13, 1813.

Napoleon is one of history's most iconic figures. As emperor of France, his actions shaped Europe in the early 19th century.

Following a successful coup d'etat in 1799, Napoleon went on to conquer much of Western and North Eastern Europe.

Napoleon was key in establishing a legal framework used across much of Europe, based on meritocracy, and his military strategy is still widely studied across the world.

When the Duke of Wellington was asked to name the greatest general of the day, he answered: "In this age, in past ages, in any age, Napoleon."

A single-page letter concerning military munitions, measuring approximately 7" by 9".

In excellent condition.

Dated February 13, 1813 and sent from Paris to the Minister of War General Henri Clarke, Duc De Feltre.

"Let me know the quantity of gunpowder that you sent to stettin, courtoin, glaignes and magdebourg in order to complete the supply of these places. With that, I pray God to have you in his holy keeping."

The letter is signed clearly by Napoleon in his tyical flourish.

The signature is fresh and crisp with no smudging or fading.

Napoleon signed the letter just two months after his defeat by the Russians in the War of 1812, as he reorganised his troops to face the Duke of Wellington in the Penninsular War.

A superb letter with sought-after military content, signed by history's greatest General.
