Lot 24051559

Specimen on a small, irregular oval planchet, well centered on both sides. Very lovely straight, strike well done. Grey patina.Metal: silverWeight: .21 gDiameter: 5 mmObverse: Head and neck of a horse facing left Reverse: four-part square as incus (mint mark) Very fine subjects for such a tiny coin. Rare R3 type.Cf: Tzamalis 92; SNG Kayhan 745. These pieces are generally attributed to a Thraco-Macedonian money, uncertain, the style of the actual coin is more refined than any other type of horse from Tzamalis. The types "horse/stamp" were almost certainly struck in several locations, and a Western studio in Asia seemed logic on the basis of origin. Shipped via tracked, registered post.
