Charles I (1625-49) coin, Unite. Tower mint. group A, Class Ila. bust 1, coronation crowned bust left, taller double arched crown, value In field behind, beaded circle surrounding, initial mark lls (1625). Very fine. CAROLVS D: (D: G: MAG: BR: FR: ET HI: REX. outer beaded circle surrounding both sides, rev crowned quartered spade shaped shield of arms, with standard garniture, beaded circle surrounding, initial mark at start of legend, pellet stops, FLORENT. CONCORDIA REGNA. 9.01g (Breaker -; Schneider ~; N.2146; S.2685). A little double-struck, about very fine and a very unusual variety, this reverse die usually paired with the later bust variety with single arched crown, therefore very rare. This coin dates to 1625 by virtue of its mint mark fleur de lis and the bust in coronation robes.
