A gold stater minted in Babylon under the reign of Alexander the Great (356-323 BC) will feature in a sale at Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles in Los Angeles on January 28.
It carries an estimate of $8,000-9,000.
The coin dates to circa 315-311 BC and features the head of Athena wearing a crested helmet on the front, while the reverse displays a standing Nike with a wreath and stylus.
The near mint piece is in exceptional condition, with a high relief strike and superb toning.
