Unique customs cruise into Scottsdale with Barrett-Jackson
A selection of stunning customs and hot rods will roar onto the block in Arizona next week, as Barrett-Jackson return for their 46th annual Scottsdale sale.
"The craftsmanship in our custom and hot rod consignments is simply awe-inspiring," says Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson.
"For many of these vehicles, no expense was spared and no detail was left untouched. These customs are truly works of rolling art and will make a wonderful addition to someone’s collection in January."
Amongst the most notable creations is 'Brass Monkey', a 1939 Chevrolet truck custom built as a personal vehicle by Doug Eldred of the Eldred Hotrod Shop in Edinboro, PA.
Designed with the motto "cost no object", the remarkable vehicle includes a freshly built 355ci Chevy topped with aluminum head and Stromberg carburetion; a GM 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission; a custom-designed 1936 Plymouth dash; and an interior fully trimmed with pinecone-glazed antique leather.
Another feature lot is the 'Almatub', built by the late, renowned hot rod designer Boyd Coddington on the hit TV show American Hot Rod.
Finished entirely in silver, with a hand-formed all-aluminum body by Marcel Delay on top of Coddington's specially constructed frame and chassis, the car is powered by an aluminum 350ci Chevy engine with Barry Grant demon three-deuce carburetion, and a Powerglide transmission with a Mooneyes electronic shifter.
Further highlights will include 'Eye Candy', a one-of-a-kind 1958 Chevrolet Custom Convertible restored by Patrick’s Classy Cars of Phoenix; the 'Blow Dart,' a 1968 Dodge Dart Resto-Mod built specifically for the 2016 SEMA Show over 2,000 hours; and a 1926 Ford Model T 'Moonshiner' Custom built by hotrod legend Mickey Himsl.
"The customs and hot rods we have crossing the block in Scottsdale are truly among the cream of the crop," says Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson.
"Many of the cars have been given the highest honors in the industry and have graced the covers of national publications. The craftsmanship behind these customs, like 'Alumatub' and 'Brass Monkey', is simply unprecedented, and our 2017 Scottsdale docket will reflect some of the biggest stars among customs and hot rods."
The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Sale takes place at WestWorld of Scottsdale in Arizona on January 14-22.
