Trio of hypercars headed for Mecum Monterey sale
A trio of incredible 'hypercars' will be amongst the star lots of Mecum Auctions hotly-anticipated Monterey sale.
First up is a 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari, regarded as "the ultimate road-going Ferrari of all time".
Powered by a 6.3 liter hybrid drive V-12 engine with 949 horsepower, the LaFerrari goes from 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and tops out at a speed of 217 MPH.
The car offered at Mecum is one of just three examples ever produced in matt black Nero DS Opaco paint; comes with just 211 miles on the clock; and features a steering wheel bearing the inscription “CAVALLO INFERNALE”. Or as Mecum simply puts it: "No matter how you describe it, this is one hell of a Prancing Horse."
The second hypercar up for grabs in California is Aston Martin’s "newest, most intense and exhilarating creation ever" – the 2016 Vulcan (see top image).
Featuring an Aston Martin Racing-built 7.0 liter V-12 engine, the incredibly exclusive, track-only car gives a top speed of more than 200 MPH.
"Only 24 were built, probably because someone at Aston Martin’s Gaydon, England headquarters rightly judged the world simply was not ready for more," states the auction house. "Whatever the truth may be, this track-only Aston Martin is one of the most exclusive automobiles in the world, capable of transporting extraordinarily fortunate souls into raptures of sound and fury unlike any other."
The third vehicle in the trio is a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach, an "engineering masterpiece" which matches race-track performance with environmentally friendly fuel economy.
Beneath the hood is a 4.6 liter direct fuel injection V-8 engine with 887 horsepower, providing a factory-rated top speed of 217 MPH.The car offered at Mecum is also the only example ordered from the factory with a matte-black wrap and exposed carbon-fiber bodywork – making it unique, as well as insanely fast.
This trio of next-generation hypercars is set to hit the auction block in California on August 18-20.
