Sporty numbers line up for Silverstone Classic car auction
Silverstone Auctions has announced details of its upcoming sale at the world famous Silverstone race track next week.
The auction will take place as part of the annual Silverstone Classic, described as "the world's biggest classic motor racing festival", which is set to attract more than 90,000 visitors.
The company will be looking to build on the success of last year's sale, which achieved sales of more than £5 million and set two world record prices in the process.
"It's a pleasure to be returning to the Silverstone Classic again this year - an event we're proud partners of," said Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions.
"Once again we have a magnificent catalogue featuring some real icons of the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties. We're expecting another record-breaking sale, especially after last year's success -showcasing the unprecedented success in the classic car market and the popularity of buying your car through auction."
Amongst the standout lots will be a stylish 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT. Originally delivered new to the renowned Ferrari dealer, Le Mans winner and founder of NART, Luigi Chinetti, this well-documented car comes with an estimate of £240,000-£280,000.
Further sporty highlights include a 1996 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta estimated at £55,000- £65,000; a 1991 Porsche 964 RS valued at £230,000-£260,000; a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster priced at £100,000-£120,000; and a 1969 Lynx-Jaguar XKSS estimated at £250,000-£280,000.
The Silverstone Classic Sale takes place at The Wing, part of the Silverstone circuit, on July 24-16.
