RM Sotheby's to offer stunning private Porsche collection in Paris
A collection of more than 40 stunning Porsches will be offered for sale at RM Sotheby's, starting next month during Retromobile Week in Paris.
The private Swiss collection features 42 cars in total, all of which will be sold with 'no reserve' across a series of auction s in 2017.
"RM is really changing the game for presenting and selling Porsches at auction," said RM Sotheby's specialist Oliver Camelin. "We’re both thrilled and honoured to have been entrusted with this incredible group of cars and can’t wait to bring them to auction in the coming months, starting in Paris."
Amongst the leading highlights from this selection is a highly original 1988 Porsche 959 Sport, one of just 29 examples ever built. Having recently spent six months on display at Stuttgart’s Porsche museum, the car will now be sold with an estimate of €1.5-€2 million ($1.57-$2.1 million).
Another top lot is a 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S 3.6, one of only 17 built for the company's most exclusive clients, which is expected to sell for €650,000-€750,000 ($683,690-$788,870).
The earliest example on offer in Paris is a 1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A 1600 Speedster by Reutter. Described as "a car that transcends generations...a must-own automobile for any enthusiast", the vintage Speedster comes with an estimate of €300,000-€400,000 ($315,550-$420,730).
The most recent is a 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera S Martini Racing Edition. As one of just 80 examples produced, the car is offered in "showroom-fresh" condition with less than 150km on the clock and an estimate of €150,000-€180,000 ($157,775-$189,330).
Further notable examples include a 1981 Porsche 924 Carrera GT, a 2005 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet, a 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a 2004 Porsche 911 GT2 Clubsport.
"The Porsche market has seen tremendous activity of late, with a strong appetite for quality, modern classics in particular," said Camelin.
"For a collection such as this, loaded with many of the marque’s heavyweights, to come to market ‘without reserve’ is a very rare and exciting occasion, and we expect will command the attention of the Porsche world."
The RM Sotheby's Paris sale takes place on February 8.
