RM Sotheby's to host most significant Ferrari sale in auction history
RM Sotheby's has announced it will host a special sale in conjunction with Ferrari, to commemorate the car manufacturer's 70th anniversary.
The sale on September 8 will take place at the Ferrari factory in Maranello, and has been described as "the most significant single-marque sale in auction history".
Collectors will have the chance to bid on an exclusive, carefully curated selection of sports, GT and racing cars from through Ferrari history, all of which will be offered with Ferrari Classiche certification.
In recent years, RM Sotheby's has been responsible for many of the world's biggest Ferrari sales.
These include the ex-Works, ex-Juan Manuel Fangio 1956 Ferrari 290 MM which sold for $28,050,000 in New York in 2015; the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4*S N.A.R.T. Spider which realized $27,500,000 in Monterey in 2013; and the 1964 Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale which sold for $26,400,000 at Monterey in 2014.
"At RM Sotheby’s we are continually striving to offer our clients an experience that is second to none," said Rob Myers, CEO and Founder of RM Sotheby’s. "Our partnership with Ferrari is a direct reflection of this crowning achievement."
"For collectors and enthusiasts alike, the sale represents a world-class and singular event, perhaps one of the most significant auctions ever held, in fact.
"We are deeply honored to hold this distinction and feel that this represents exactly what our customers expect from an association between such storied and historic brands as Ferrari and RM Sotheby’s."
