Porsche 550 Spyder "Little Bastard" Recreation
Someone has done a great job recreating James Dean's famous Porsche 550 Spyder "Little Bastard", as this car looks fit to wear a Porsche badge to me! There are a few companies out there that make 550 and 356 Porsche replicas, often to a very high standard. Really the biggest giveaway that it's not a real Porsche is that modern Momo steering wheel, which can be easily replaced!
Historics at Brooklands have put a very reasonable estimate of £18,000-24,000 on the Spyder- for that price I wouldn't really care if it's not a real Porsche. That's the price of a new Mazda MX5!
The car was created by Chuck Beck for a Japanese client in 1995 and it's since only covered 9,000 miles. It was imported to the UK last year and it's got a VW 1.9 engine.
