Paul Rackham's tractor collection sells for $761,000
A selection of tractors and farming machinery from the collection of Paul Rackham has achieved around £500,000 ($761,042) in a sale at Cheffin’s in Suffolk, UK.
Among the highlights was a 1953 MK1 Landrover, the 13th to roll of the production line, that sold for a world record £36,000 ($54,795).
The model features an extra-long wheelbase and has been heavily restored.
Tractors were well represented, with a classic 1948 Ferguson TE-A20 selling for £4,000 ($60,888).
Agricultural machinery is a niche area of collecting, but clearly has a devoted customer base.
As Oliver Godfrey said: “It was an excellent auction and generated a huge amount of interest, both at home and abroad, with buyers from Norway, Sweden, Hungary and even Australia, as well as Harry Ferguson’s native Northern Ireland.
“The prices achieved were well above expectations and there was some frenzied bidding both at the sale itself and online.”
