Maserati Merak at auction
The Maserati Merak looks to be the last proper Italian sports cars from the '70s to have not gone up in value insanely over the last few years and coincidentally it's also one of my favourites. Compared it to the Lamborghini Urraco or the Ferrari 308 and you'd find that the Merak was comparatively civilised, being one of the first cars to have double glazed windows for added comfort of the driver.
Those windows added weight to an already fairly breathless 190hp V6 (less if you got the 2.0 engine) meant that it couldn't keep up with the rest of the Italian metal out there, but if we're honest, how often do people drive their classic Ferraris and Lamborghinis at full throttle these days anyway?
This one has been immobile for a long time so is in need of a fair bit of work done to it before it's road ready, but as they used to say in infomercials, they're passing the savings on to you, since the estimated value is a very modest €16,000 from Auctionata.
