Iconic poster cars headline Auctions America Hilton Head sale
Iconic 'poster' cars from the 1970s and 80s will be amongst the highlights of the upcoming Auctions America Hilton Head sale.
Held in conjunction with the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival and Concours d’Elegance in South Carolina, the sale will offer vintage rides along with a host of modern-day collector cars.
In total, more than 100 "blue-chip" automobiles will cross the block, alongside a selection of rare vintage automobilia.
“While Auctions America is best known for its multi-day sales, we’re focusing on a smaller, more elite group of automobiles for our final auction of the year,” says Megan Boyd, Car Specialist, Auctions America.
“The select offering of cars has been hand-picked by our team of specialists to complement the diversity and heritage that is showcased by the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance and we are looking forward to celebrating the hobby in one of America’s most scenic locations.”
Amongst the top lots is a 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition. Finished in white with a black leather interior, and offered in remarkably original condition, the car has just 10,900 km on the clock and comes with an estimate of $340,000-$380,000.
Further famous 'poster' cars include a 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS estimated at $290,000-$330,000; a black on black 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB with just 2700 miles, valued at $100,000-$125,000); and a 1982 DeLorean DMC-12, one of the most recognizable cars in the world, estimated at $25,000-$30,000.
Modern classic on offer will include an ‘as new’ 2002 BMW Z8 Roadster with only 543 miles, estimated at $280,000-$320,000, and a 2002 Porsche 911 GT2 Coupe, capable of achieving speeds of up to 198 mph, priced at $140,000-$160,000.
And collectors looking for something with a little racing history can bid on a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven top victory on countless occasions by NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson, estimated at $150,000 - $175,000.
The Auctions America Hilton Head Island sale takes place on October 31 at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa.
