Gooding and Company to offer unique McLaren P1 at Amelia Island
A unique, custom-designed McLaren P1 will be amongst the star lots of the forthcoming Gooding and Company Amelia island sale.
Released in 2014, the P1 is a plug-in hybrid hypercar built as the natural successor to the legendary McLaren F1.
Powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, the car is capable of speeds up to 401kmph and has an acceleration of 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.
Just 375 examples of the P1 were produced, and all were sold within a month of the car's launch in October 2014.
The P1 offered at Gooding and Company is a truly unique example, featuring bespoke specifications created in collaboration with McLaren and the current owner during the production phase.
As the only P1 in the world finished in cobalt metallic Professor 2 Blue, the car is one of only two to include Daytona-style seats, and also comes with distinctive striping and badging throughout its exterior, along with interior controls and switches which match the exterior livery.
The car will be offered without reserve, and is expected to fetch between $2-$3 million.
Proceeds from the sale of the car will benefit the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Founded in 1874, the Institute is regarded as one of America's finest schools for undergraduates studying science, engineering and mathematics.
"I am honored to present this McLaren P1, a supercar that delivers technological excellence," said Garth Hammers, Specialist at Gooding & Company. "This example is one of the finest I have seen in terms of distinct color specification, condition and limited mileage.
The Gooding and Company Amelia Island sale takes place at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation on March 10.
