One of Elvis Presley's favourite cars could be yours – if you have a spare $200,000, that is.

The King's personally-owned 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SEL is now up for sale on eBay, offered by the Missouri classic car dealership Daniel Schmitt & Co.Bidding in the auction ends on February 9 - but if you can't wait that long to get your hands on the wheel, you can snap the car up straight away for a 'Buy Now' price of $199,900.

Elvis' love of cars was legendary, and he owned dozens throughout his life including countless Cadillacs, BMWs, Rolls-Royces, Lincolns, Ferraris, and a few Mercedes.

Always generous, he had a habit of buying cars and then giving them away to friends, but this particular Mercedes remained in his own personal collection.

Elvis originally bought the car from Robertson's Mercedes-Benz in Memphis in December 1970, with featured factory options including air conditioning, power windows, power steering, power brakes, and a Becker Europa radio.

It was originally finished in Dark Red, but he quickly had it repainted Alpha Crystal Blue Metallic to match another Mercedes in his possession: a Mercedes-Benz 600 Saloon Limousine which he had leased from the same dealership.

That Mercedes Limousine sold at Bonhams in 2010, having been restored by a British collector, for just under $125,000.

Having taken delivery of his new Mercedes, Elvis could regularly be seen driving round Memphis and it was often parked in the driveway of his Graceland home.

After his death in 1977, the cars spent years on display at a Tennessee museum.

Offered complete with its original title documents, both of which bear Elvis' signature, the car could be the perfect rock 'n' roll ride for one lucky collector.
