BMW 328 at Goodwood Members Meeting
The BMW 328 (the original, not the name they gave mid-range 3 series) is quite criminally overlooked when it comes to historic and important BMWs. looking a bit like a more hardened, racing version of Noddy's car, the 328 would have a profound effect on sports cars, partly for twice winning the Mille Miglia, but also for owning the original donor engine for the AC cobra.
The 328 may also have been the first proper BMW depending on who you ask. Six cylinder engine at the front, kidney grilles and built entirely for driving as quickly yet as comfortably and efficiently as possible- sound familiar?
This particular 328 (sold as a Frazer Nash) was the penultimate one sold before the outbreak of war in 1939. It is heading for auction at Bonhams' Goodwood Members' Meeting where it could sell for €1 million.
