Barrett-Jackson adds rare Porsches to Scottsdale sale line-up
Barrett-Jackson has announced yet more additions to its rapidly-growing Scottsdale auction line-up – a selection of stylish Porsche sports cars.
The cars will cross the block as part of the company's 45th Anniversary sale in Arizona, a nine-day event featuring more than 1,500 collector vehicles.
“Porsche sports cars have become particularly hot collectibles over the past 18 months,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “The cars feature iconic styling and great German engineering. They deliver a wonderful driving experience yet are typically more reliable than other Europeans.
"The turbo cars in particular are attracting attention from collectors who want a blue chip Porsche. Coupling these with a brand-new 918 and two classic 356s offers an incredible selection for the German marque."
Leading this offering is a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Edition, one of only 918 examples ever built making the car instantly collectible. Described as "one of the highest-performing supercars in the world", the e-hybrid Spyder has just 595 miles on the clock and will be offered for the first time in the company's history.
The sale will also feature a 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster, one of only 814 produced for the U.S that year and regarded as one of the most iconic 'poster cars' of the era.
“Porsche 911s from the 1970s and 1980s appeal to many collectors because they became cultural icons when Hollywood began to weave the cars into movies and TV shows,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “They also dominated various road racing series. Porsches offer a great way to enjoy sports car ownership and also be part of the collector car community.”
Further highlights from the German marque will include a a 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo, a 1965 Porsche 356SC Cabriolet and a 1962 Porsche 356 Super 90 Cabriolet.
The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale sale takes place at WestWorld of Scottsdale on January 23-31, 2016.
