Woman returns library book 67 years after borrowing it
A woman has returned her overdue library book 67 years after she borrowed it from Auckland Library - where she was faced with a fine of $24,000.
The woman checked out the copy of Myths and Legends of Maoriland by AW Reed back in 1948 and had been 'meaning to return it for years.' The Library were surprised to see the return of the book, which was 24,605 days past it's due date, but decided not to fine the woman as she was a child when the book was checked out and children are not charged fines.
The book is likely to go into the Library's special collections section.
