Description: (8vo) original red-orange cloth, pictorial dust jacket. First Edition. Inscribed on the front free endpaper: "To Herb Yellin - Regards, Thomas Pynchon." Inscribed copies of Pynchon's works are notoriously rare. Pynchon's signature is among the rarest of any living author. He is ranked by Time magazine as one of the top ten most reclusive celebrities, joined on the list by the likes of J.D. Salinger, Howard Hughes, Marcel Proust, Emily Dickinson, etc. From the personal collection of publisher Herb Yellin, proprietor of the Lord John Press. Condition: Jacket lightly edge worn, closed tear on rear panel, flaps a bit yellowed; volume a touch shaken; near fine in a very good jacket.
