Description: (8vo) original yellow cloth-backed gray boards, pictorial dust jacket. First Edition. The author's second novel. The winner of the Richard and Hilda Rosenthal Award from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. Inscribed on the front free endpaper: "To Herb Yellin, Good luck, Thomas Pynchon." Inscribed copies of Pynchon's works are rarely encountered. Pynchon's signature is among the rarest of any living author. He is ranked by Time magazine as one of the top ten most reclusive celebrities, joined on the list by the likes of J.D. Salinger, Howard Hughes, Marcel Proust, Emily Dickinson, etc. From the personal collection of publisher Herb Yellin, proprietor of the Lord John Press.
