.
A great visual history of Plath's The Bell Jar, which has recently been given a new covered that has been accused of looking too "chick-lit" by readers. The poet and novelist has been the subject of a great deal of media attention lately. I'm not sure how deserved this is. Is Sylvia Plath and excellent writer? In my opinion, no, probably not.

Plath is a victim of her fanbase - silly teenage girls mostly. It's nice to see the establishment getting behind her, even if it is only to market her work to the next generation of silly teenage girls.

I love this book and I'm not a teenage girl.

@ KW77: Like Justin Beiber? His lyrics are seriously advanced, yet his fanbase only seem to notice his hairstyle. He is a very underrated musical talent.

Hm, I don't know what to think about all this really. I mean, the words beneath the cover are unchanged, son if the cover appeals to someone who may otherwise not bother with Plath, that's a good thing. I don't think it will "put off" fans - they will just buy other editions if they do not like this new one. In terms of reputation, I don't think Plath has ever been considered lightweight. Just a bit of an over-sharer
