The 100 greatest novels in the English language
The Guardian have completed their list of the 100 greatest novels in the English language-which has been 2 years in the making.
The list was compiled by Robert McCrum and features some rather unconventional choices inside the top 10. Emma by Jane Austen, for example, is given 7th place on the list instead of the authors infinitely more popular Pride and Prejudice-which doesnt even make the top 100.
Other well loved classics such as James Joyce's Ulysses just about make it inside the top 50 with McCrum favoring titles such as Samuel Richardson's long winded epistolary novel Clarissa.
