(Folio) 40x30 cm (153/4x113/4") original blue cloth, lettered in gilt. First Persian Edition. Rare Persian reprint of Schmidt's important treatise on the archeological excavations at Perepolis, translated to Farsi. Numerous aerial photographs of the site, along with architectural drawings, etc. The first of eventually three volumes published by the University of Chicago Press, the last in 1970. This Persian edition was likely published in a very small number and we are unaware of the two later volumes having been similarly translated. Laid in is a photocopy of a letter from Harold N. Munger, Jr. of Franklin Book Programs to the author regarding the publication and informing him that a copy has been sent to him. Provenance: The family of Dr. Erich F. Schmidt. Condition: Spine a bit faded, light wear to binding; very good.
