Rare historic books from Hawkstone Hall library raise £15,000 at auction
Rare historic books from the library of Hawkstone Hall have raised more than £15,000 at auction.
A number of historical, religious and philosophical text books dating from between 1520 to 1900 were sold via the Trevanion and Dean auctioneers’ salesroom last weekend.
Top selling lot at the sale was a 1855 book on the Holy Land which sold for £220.
Hawkstone Hall is an 18th century mansion which is based near Hodnet. The mansion has been previously owned by a number of members of parliment including General Rowland Hill.
