Frederick Samuel Dellenbaugh (1853-1935) was artist and assistant topographer with John Wesley Powell's second expedition down the Colorado River. He later joined the 1899 Harriman Alaska Expedition financed by railroad magnate E. H. Harriman, served as librarian of the American Geographical Society (1909-1911), became a fellow of the American Ethnological Society, and helped to found the Explorers Club in 1904. An attractive and significant volume, rare in the original dust jacket. Condition: Jacket with some chipping to spine ends and corners; the volume is fine, the jacket very good.
