Lot 789: Christie (Agatha). A Caribbean Mystery, 1st edition, 1964, original cloth, d.j., some insect damage to spine, 8vo. Presentation copy, inscribed to front endpaper: "For Dr Mitchelmore, with thanks for advice (!), Agatha Christie, Wallingford, December 1964". Gordon Mitchelmore was Agatha Christie's doctor and friend during her years in Wallingford, and it is known when he visited her professionally they chatted at length about medicines, poisons, forensics and other topics of mutual interest. Provenance: Mitchelmore family, by descent. One of the characters in the book, Major Palgrave is poisoned, as Miss Marple discovers and there are other plots involving belladonna and Serenite, a high blood pressure drug. (1)
