Numerous plates from photographs; double-page map. Black cloth lettered in gilt. First Edition.Alois Musil (1868-1944) was a Czech theologist, orientalist, explorer and writer. He traveled extensively throughout the Arab world, and mastered 35 dialects of Arabic. During World War I he was sent to the Middle East to eliminate British attempts to instigate a revolution against the Ottoman Empire, thus being an opponent of T. E.
