(8vo) 23.75x14 cm ( 9 ¼x5¾"), original green cloth, lettered in gilt on spine. First American Edition.Speke accompanied Sir Richard Burton in his African travels, but fell out with him over the geographical meaning of their discoveries. Condition: Rubbing to covers and edges of cloth, sunning at spine and some fraying at head and heel, hinges cracked; book plate was once affixed to front paste-down page, damp stains throughout at bottom corners of pages; else very good.
