Lot 427: Malibran (Maria, 1808-1836). Reminiscences of Madame Malibran, in a Series of Illustrations of her Principal Characters. No. 1, Containing Ten Illustrations of Fidelio, and a Portrait of Malibran, Designed and Drawn on Stone by E.H. Wehnert, November 1836, portrait frontispiece and ten numbered lithographic plates on India paper, spotting throughout, original roan-backed printed wrappers, some soiling and wear, covers detached and backstrip deficient, oblong folio (27 x 37.5cm). Very rare. WorldCat lists one other copy at Loeb Music Library, Harvard University. Published by the proprietor Edward Henry Wehnert, and as printed on the upper wrapper the lithographs were made by C.F. Cheffins and copies were available as India Proofs (10s. 6d.) or Plain Paper (7s. 6d.).
