Lot 409: Author: Cochrane, John Dundas; Title: Narrative of a Pedestrian Journey through Russia and Siberian Tartary, from the Frontiers of China to the Frozen Sea and Kamtchatka...; Place Published: Philadelphia; Publisher: H.C. Carey, I. Lea, and A. Small; Date Published: 1824; Description: xii, 415 pp. (8vo) original (?) cloth-backed boards, uncut pages. First American Edition.Narrative from Scottish naval officer famous for traveling on foot (nicknamed the "Pedestrian Traveler"). Cochrane notes that he rode as well as walked, but this journey was novel because of how much land he was able to traverse on foot. Condition: Wear and tear to binding; hinges starting to crack; some foxing and darkening of pages, a few stains and folds but text is readable; good in a fair binding.
