Lot 39: Mure (William). Journal of a Tour in Greece and the Ionian Islands, with Remarks on the Recent History, Present State and Classical Antiquities of those Countries, 2 vols., 1st ed., 1842, author's presentation copy, inscribed on half-title to vol. 1, 'To James Dennistoun Esqu., with the Authors regards', both half-titles present, eight maps and seven uncoloured lithographed plates, some folding, 4pp. publisher's list at rear of vol. 1, errata and list of plates at rear of vol. 2, some scattered spotting, original blindstamped cloth gilt, (two tiny chips to spine of vol. 2), spines faded, 8vo. Blackmer 1170. Mure was a classical scholar whose principal work was 'A Critical History of the Language and Literature of Greece, 1850-57.'
