Description: Portrait frontispiece of Pound after a drawing by Henri Gaudier-Brzeska. 19x12. 5 cm (7½x5") (8vo) red cloth, gilt lettered. First American Edition. One of 1,000 copies. This brief tribute to Pound and analysis of his writings was issued to promote Knopf's American ediution of Pound's Lustra. T. S. Eliot wrote the text anonymously (because he was so little known at the time), and Pound revised and corrected it before sending it off to John Quinn, who was arranging its publication. Not until 1920 was Eliot's authorship revealed. This work was not actually published until January, 1918.
