First Edition.Written by a Baptist missionary, this text covers Congo's history, slavery, and religion, as well as the inception and establishment of the mission, explorations, and other topics. A scarce two-volume set by the author of The Dictionary and Grammar of the Kongo Language. Condition: Some wear to bindings, especially the spines; hinges tender or beginning to crack; map mostly detached (scale and legend still attached) and torn along one fold; beginning and end of volumes have some foxing, but most pages are only slightly darkened; very good or better.
