The sepia-toned frontispiece photo of a scantily-clad young woman, captioned "An Alaskan Indian Girl" probably enticed many a settler to the North Country, though she is hugging a palm tree and one wonders if she isn't actually a Hawaiian. Wickersham 4058. This copy is signed on the front free endpaper in pen by Becky London, daughter of Jack London. Condition: Moderarte wear and rubbing to boards,slight fraying at a few corners and head and heel of spine, browning to page edges and scattered foxing; very good.
