First Edition.Inscription on front paste-down page: "This book belongs to St. Andrew's Chinese School 5th Ave. and 127th St., New York." Augustus Ward Loomis (1803-1897) and his wife Mary Ann were Presbyterian missionaries to Chekiang Province, China and to the Chinese in San Francisco. His English and Chinese Lessons was intended for adult Chinese who were learning English, but according to the author it can also be used to learn Chinese. Condition: Wear and rubbing to boards; pages yellowing; very good.
