Lot 336: Gronovius (Jacobus). Thesaurus Graecarum Antiquitatum, in quo continentur effigies virorum ac foeminarum illustrium, quibus in Graecis aut Latinis monumentis aliqua memorae pars datur..., 13 volumes bound in 12, Leiden, Petrus & Balduinus van der Aa, 1697-1702, additional engraved title to each volume, printed titles in red and black, mostly with engraved vignette, 420 engraved plates of antiquities, portraits, maps, etc., and other illustrations to text, occasional minor marginal waterstains, bookplate of the Library of the Xavier Union, Lake Collection and Archbishop Corrigan Memorial Library to front pastedowns, contemporary uniform vellum, a little rubbed and some minor marks, folio. Macclesfield Library, Sotheby's 30 October 2007. The first edition of this magnum opus by Jacob Gronovius, the prolific classical translator and editor, and professor of Greek at Leiden.
