Lot 303: Bindings. Five album amicorum, German, early 19th century, five albums, each with approximately thirty loose leaves filled with manuscript contributions (epithets, poems, etc.), mostly in German, but some in English, one with several pencil drawings of views and buildings on versos, many leaves dated, variously 1808-1842, and some with place names, e.g. Hamburg, London, Hannover, Dublin, occasional signature or initals of Louis Stahlschmidt, Caroline Stahlschmidt, as well as the various contributors, each with album leaves loosely contained in an original decorative box or binding, some with original marbled wrapper, all but one in original slipcase, in overall good condition, oblong 8vo. An unusual survival of five early decorative friendship albums belonging to the Stahlschmidt family of Hannover. (5)
