On white wove paper. 25x33 cm (9?x13"), on sheet 26x41 cm (10?x16?"), with wide left margin.Rare and significant map of San Francisco. This issue is not in Baird, although there was an 1854 version that was a letter sheet (Baird 188); it had eight vignettes along the sides. The present example was purchased at the Clifford Auction in 1994, described as a variant, printed across a double sheet. The outline coloring indicates boundaries between wards; there are also three ink lines indicating routes in to (or out of) the city. Backed with tissue, thus restored, repairing few tears, light to moderate staining and soiling; about very good. Provenance: Sloan-Clifford auction, 10/26/94.
