Lot 22: Author: London, Jack. Title: Burning Daylight - inscribed by the author to his mother. Place Published: New York. Publisher: Macmillan Company. Date Published: 1910. Description: (6), 361, (1) + (12 (with 1 blank)) ad pp. Illustrated with 8 plates by W. Morgan. (8vo) original blue cloth lettered in white, cover illustrated in blue and yellow. First Edition. Inscribed by London to his mother on the front free endpaper: "Dear Mama:- I hope you'll like this yarn, though I feel you will scarcely sympathizes with Daylight when he plants Eucalyptus over his gold mine. Your live son, Jack London. Glen Ellen, Nov. 15, 1910." BAL second printing, with three blank leaves following ad at rear, but BAL also ponders if the their first printing, with a single blank leaf following ads, constitutes an advance printing. First state of binding imprint with "Macmillan" in a single line of type. BAL 11918; Sisson & Martens, p. 47. Minor wear; very near fine.
