(4to) 30x22.5 cm (11½x9") original period calf-backed marbled boards, spine labels. House Issues.Two volumes from the massive reference set that Wagner-Camp (p. 462) describes as "a monumental collection of scientific information, geographical, zoological, botanical, geological, of the still mysterious American West," with its organizational flaws "amply compensated by the richness of the material within." Condition: Significant wear and rubbing to boards and spines, covers detached; ex-library stamps on front endpapers of Vol. VII, browning at endpapers, foxing and damp stains scattered throughout, four plates missing from Vol. XII, maps present but with some tears and foxing; overall fair.
