Uncommon map of California and Nevada during boom times, just prior to the completion of the transcontinental railroad. There are two large insets at bottom, of San Francisco (26.5x19 cm) and "Map of the Great National Pacific Railroads" (13.5x43.5 cm). This latter shows various railroad lines completed and proposed between San Francisco and Chicago, from about the latitude of Monterey in the south to Coos Bay in the north. On the main map there is much detail in the mining regions in both California and Nevada. There is a table of distances between San Francisco and other Pacific ports. With rubberstamp of Roy Hill, San Francisco, California to inside of front cover. A little rubbing and wear to folder; map with several splits at folds, slight tears at fold intersections; very good.
