Snyder. 37.5x53 cm (14?x21"), folding, set loose in original blindstamped cloth covers lettered in gilt, 19.9x8.2 cm (4 ?x3 ?"); with custom half morocco slipcase & chemise. Detailed map of the California Gold Region, with west at the top, noted by Wheat as being based on Edward Ord's 1848 map, "with slight changes in the wording of the legends, and with the additions of a few items, such as 'Larkin's Gold,' near the mouth of the Bear River." Folder expertly rebacked with cloth; map backed with rice paper; very good. Provenance: High Ridge, SF Book Fair, 2/93.
