Lot 131: Author: London, Jack. Title: White Fang. Place Published: New York. Publisher: Macmillan Company. Date Published: 1906. Description: x, 327, (4) ad pp. 8 plates by Charles Livingston Bull. (8vo) original pictorial pale green cloth stamped in black, white and gilt. First Edition. Second issue according to BAL and Woodbridge, with the tipped-in title page; Merle Johnson, however, states that the title page was always on a stub, or at least all the copies he examined. This copy with a vintage copy-photograph of London tipped to front endpaper, one of his bookplates tipped to the verso of the same leaf which is also inscribed by Jack London's stepsister: "To my dear friend Mrs. Douglas, We are so happy to have had you visit our "Valley of the Moon." We hope you learned to love it as we love Jess. Eliza London Shepard, Jack London Ranch, Aug 21, 1932." BAL 11896; Sisson & Martens, p. 29. Wear and light soiling to cloth, front hinge cracked, edges of front endpaper worn; small stain to fore edge of page block; good.
